It's been nearly seven months since the last release of RDTool for BioHazard 2, and pretty much that same amount of time since i've had the will to work on it. I would like to thank Dark BioHazard for motivating me and testing V.3.0 while in recent development. I would like to also thank PmData for rewiki information, and Whatsamatta for the recently-released, remixed-scenario mod that helped motivate me even more. MonkeyMan2000 also gets a shout-out for his work on ADTs, which also motivated me to make a more compatible RDTool. Without these people, RDTool wouldn't be getting a new release today.
Several things have been fixed since the last release:
CAM - RDTool now properly handles this file. It contains offsets to binary data that controls textures the PC can "walk behind". Each binary data is placed in a folder titled "CAMERA". There are no bugs repacking these files - new offsets are written to the (already repacked) CAM file during the repacking procedure. In (bugged) V.2.0, this binary data was appended to the LIT file, as discovered by Dark BioHazard, and new offsets for this binary data was never written... which probably caused a few errors, i'm sure
TMD - These pointers used to be a pain in the ass, and they still kinda are. Every RDT is unique. Some contain TMD-like models that are 0byte dummies and have 0byte offsets, however, there are others that have 0byte offsets but have real offset defined in the model offset array. To help conquer this problem, I made some options...
-normTMD - Creates 0x00 offsets for all 0byte TMDs
-useindex - Use RDR index to determine which TMDs should have 0byte values, and which ones shouldn't.
If you don't specify one of these options, real offsets are written to the TMD offset array inside the new RDT - most RDTs have no problem with this, though, there's always those exceptions... but overall, the TMD offset pointer bug has finally been squashed.
TIM - In V.2.0, pointers to the effects textures were bugged. That bug has been squashed.
SCD - Binary script files are now exctracted and placed into SCRIPT folders, as opposed to just 2 SCD files. The extracted script files are used to set enemies, doors, etc. Also, they determine and control 'what happens' (eg, scenario events).
MSG - These files are now properly handled, as well. Each binary script is exctracted and placed into MESSAGE_J/W folders. As an added bonus, RDTool automatically converts the MSG files to RTF format, so that *user* knows which specific-text he/she is dealing with. You can use this program to convert TXT to Bio2Text format. Additionally, if you just want the RTF text, you may use the -text option (eg, RDTool ROOM2000.RDT -text).
MAIN V.3.0 - Complete rewrite. The overall extraction routine for each file was updated - all files now extract properly. Several file offset pointer bugs were fixed. Bugs still occur while trying to repack small RDTs (1Kb,for example). Source code included.
USE: This is a command line application for Win32/64 platforms which requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package to be installed to run.

REPACK: RDTool ROOM1000.RDR -r
REPACK: RDTool ROOM1000.RDR -normTMD -r (try to 'fix' dummy pointers)
