A masterpiece of its time, Konami's legendary Demonic Castle Dracula (also known as Castlevania) was released in 1986. Simon Belmondo sets out to defeat various monsters. The gameplay is the same - you sit behind the wheel of a car and drive to destroy the enemy and rescue prisoners of war. Your arsenal includes a machine gun (which only shoots upwards) and grenades (which fly in the direction of movement). Rescued prisoners from the barracks have to be transferred to the helicopter, for which we get points or rockets instead of grenades. There are also hidden prizes in the game (in the form of a star) that give you lives or weapons, or destroy all the enemies on the screen.
The main differences to the NES version. Firstly, the screen only scrolls vertically. Secondly, if you are playing with two people, you can choose 'B' mode, where one player controls the car and the other shoots the machine gun and throws grenades (and grenades can be thrown in any direction, regardless of where the jeep is going). On the downside, the first level is missing and the last one is noticeably shorter.
