Sega Mega Drive / Genesis ROM Utilites

Alternative program for correcting checksums in Genesis / Megadrive / 32X ROMs. The program does not change the original file (creates a new one with corrections). There are two correction options (checksum only or checksum and ROM header size).

This program analyses the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive ROM and displays header information. The headers can be edited and written back to the ROM. There is also a checksum correction function.

This is a complete suite of functions for Sega Genesis/32X/Mega Drive. Although it was designed for this specific system, the program has several functions that can be used on other video game systems or anything that uses Eprom/Flashs and so on. The program is very useful as several functions can be run in batch to act on several files together. Among the main functions are:

• Correct Checksum for Sega Genesis and Master System.
• ROM information reader and editor (Sega Genesis).
• Byte swapping (for recording 16bit style eproms used in Sega Genesis).
• Complete ROMs (or any file) leaving this with the chosen size.
• Combine ROMs to make a large file that can be used with cartridges that change the game with RESET.
• Join HI and LO files (odd and even bytes).
• Split large files into smaller parts (to split files taken from multi-game cartridges).
• Divides ROMs into HI and LO (odd and even bytes, for recording in 8bit memories).
• Extracts part of files, choosing a start byte and the size of the part.
• Smart file splitting (this function can find Sega Genesis ROM files inside any file (as long as the ROMs are in standard format).
• Compare files byte by byte. (If you have similar ROMs you can compare them. them to know the difference between them, this is useful to know what has been modified in hacked ROMs)
• You can change via software the order/position of data pins and addresses for 16bit and 8bit memories (this makes it easier to reposition the tracks when making a PCB board. 

Utility to correct the ROM checksum, if the checksum is incorrect, the ROM will not play. The program also sets the correct ROM size value in the ROM header.

This is a small Windows utility for applying Game Genie codes to roms. This saves you the trouble of having to enter them each time the game is played. For platforms:

Region lockout bypass tool works on Genesis, Mega Drive, Sega CD, and 32x ROMs. It will try and patch your ROM so that it will work in any region. Also has a checksum fixing button to try and fix the checksum after patching (if needed). In most cases, it helps bypass region checks, especially on an emulator, but may not work on real hardware (test on a flash cartridge).

Allows you to view the contents of Gens save files. Great tool for finding some things like references to palette tables in VRAM and other things.

Patchinator will patch Game Genie or raw codes into any Genesis, Mega Drive, or 32x ROM. It will also fix checksums for you, including fixing checksum problems (blank red or black screen) with most games.
